Obsidian Brass was born from the tension between force and fragility, the power of brass shaped by stillness, space, and decay.
Rather than focusing on cinematic bravado, it explores the evolving tonal edges of brass through erosion, emergence, and movement. Using organic recordings transformed through our Infinite Motion Engine™ 2.0 and Non-Static Sampling™, each sound unfolds uniquely with every note.
What emerges is neither heroic nor ambient, but something in between, an evolving instrument of emotion, shadow, and motion.

Non-Static Sampling™ developed by Founder Michael Vignola was created to capture what makes real instruments feel alive, the shifting breath, the wavering texture, the deepening resonance over time. Instead of freezing a perfect moment, it preserves sound as it unfolds, allowing each note to evolve and reveal new details with every sustain.
When combined with the Infinite Motion Engine™, this evolving behavior becomes part of a generative system that gives composers expressive control over time, motion, and emotion.

Meet The Musician
Meredith Moore is an acclaimed French horn player known for her rich, expressive tone and emotional depth. Her international career spans classical, cinematic, and contemporary music, bringing nuance and artistry to Obsidian Brass.
She has performed as principal horn with the Radio City Music Hall Orchestra and Hawaii Symphony, and appeared with the London Symphony Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic, and New York City Ballet. Her sound is featured on major film scores like Thor and Brave, as well as recordings and tours with Josh Groban and Mumford and Sons.
A dedicated advocate for both modern and historical horns, Meredith blends precision with heart, capturing the breath and resonance that make Obsidian Brass come alive.
